ABS-CBN's Christmas ID 2012

Every year, the Kapamilya Network marks the start of the yuletide season with the launch of the ABS-CBN Christmas station ID. It has become almost a yearly tradition that Filipinos around the globe look forward to.

Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko, our Christmas Station ID theme, highlights how the Filipino spirit always shines through despite calamities that ravage our country. It shows how each one of us become bearers of light, as we help our countrymen get back on their feet... how we remain resilient because kindness never runs out, because help always comes.

Many scenes in the SID are inspired by real events. Some of these stories happened at the height of the habagat - A fireman saved the lives of those stranded in their own homes; a chef opened the doors of his restaurant to feed victims; a young woman offered her own jacket to a street child who was suffering under the cold rain; Philippine coast guards went out of their way to save lives; Volunteers and civilians selflessly offered their time and energy to relief work.

This year's offering features hundreds of Kapamilya stars paying tribute to ordinary Filipino heroes, at the same time helping spread the light across the globe.

The parol, a Pinoy Christmas icon, is this year's Christmas SID centerpiece. Film director John-D Lazatin suggested the idea of having kids orphaned during Typhoon Sendong design a parol. This, in turn, is used as an instrument of light spreading around the world. When we own the Kapamilya parol, we're not only spreading the light, we're also being part of an effort to help our disaster affected Kapamilyas, as proceeds from the parol sales would be donated to Sagip Kapamilya, the ABS-CBN Foundation arm which provides relief to affected communities of disasters, as well as engage in rehabilitation and disaster risk reduction projects.

This year's Christmas anthem was written by Robert Labayen, ABS-CBN's Vice President of Creative Communications Management with music by Marcus and Amber Davis. It was performed by an ensemble of Kapamilya artists -- Sarah Geronimo, Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vina Morales, Billy Crawford; the Champions Angeline Quinto, Yeng Constantino, Erik Santos, Jed Madela, Christian Bautista, Bugoy Drilon, Marcelito Pomoy, Jovit Baldivino; the Sessionistas Aiza Seguerra, Richard Poon, Juris, Princess, Sitti, Kean Cipriano and Bamboo; X Factor Philippines Grand Winner KZ Tandingan, kid singers from ABS-CBN Star Magic; Daniel Padilla and Piolo Pascual.

The 2012 Christmas Station ID was created by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management headed by Robert Labayen, Johnny Delos Santos, Patrick de Leon and Ira Zabat. It is directed by Paolo Ramos with Peewee Gonzales. Logo design by Melo Saliendra, head of Print Graphics and Design. The SID Creative and Production team members are Dang Baldonado, Danie Sedilla-Cruz, Edsel Misenas, Kathrina Sanchez, Christina Barbin, Christine Joy Laxamana, Marchie Blaire Mallari, Sheryl Ramos, Adrian Lim, Carla Payongayong, Chiz Constantino-Perez, Christine Daria-Estabillo, Lota Rosales, Lloyd Corpuz, Mark Bravo; with ABS-CBN Marketing Cookie Bartolome, Baroy Morga, Chris Wong; ABS-CBN TV Entertainment, ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group, ABS-CBN Global.

Other members are Jaime Porca, Technical Production head; Rommel Andreo Sales, Director of Photography; Odyssey Flores, 2nd Unit Director of Photography; Sam Esquillon, Production Designer; Oliver Paler, Alfie Landayan, Meryl Miranda, Con Ignacio, Post Production Team; Jimmy Muna, sound engineer; Winnie Mariano, artist coordinator; Mary Ann Rejano, Remy Sotto, Talent Caster; Marvin Bragas, Location Manager; Marileth Abejero, Photographer; Darwin Duenas, Production Coordinator.

Movie: Cloud Atlas

After seeing the trailer, this triple-directed feature ( Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer ) is a must see movie this year. Starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant. The movie is almost 3 hours long. It is adapted from a novel with the same title in 2004.

I'm hoping cinemas in our country will  feature this movie in the next coming months. I cant wait for the screening schedule of Cloud Atlas.

Trivia: Cloud Atlas is the most expensive independent film of all time.

This movie by Warner Brothers is Rated-R. Try to check their website, its really cool. Check this link

Gloc-9 Recognizes LGBT through "Sirena"

Gloc-9, an award-winning and one of the most successful music artists in our country once again proven his ingenuity with his craft for  his new single entitled "Sirena" under his latest album "MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata," under Universal Records.

Boy Abunda acknowledged Gloc-9 for making the song Sirena during his interview last night in Bandila's Ikaw Na! segment. The song emphasizes the pain of a gay suffering from the unfair judgement of the society and sometimes, even with his own family. The music video also shows how loving and fair a gay can be after all the heartaches and judgement he received. The music video's last part also shows successful and active gays in their respective fields like Boy Abunda and Danton Remoto to name some. Sirena is creatively done in collaboration with Ebe Dencel.

Perhaps one of the catching lines of the the song is "Di sinusukat ang tapang at ang bigote sa mukha dahil kung minsan mas lalaki pa sa lalaki ang bakla" .

With his new single I can say, he will be able to earn more respect and support from the LGBT community.

"MKNM: Mga Kwento ng Makata" Tracklist:

1. Balak ni Syke
2. Apatnapungbara feat. Ian Tayao
3. Silup feat. Denise Barbacena

August Mindburst : Let's Get Physic-Al

For most of us, Physics seems to be one of the hardest subjects in school. Many students thought that it is all about long and complicated computations.  I remember when I was studying, my heart was always pounding whenever my teacher or professor asked me to solve a problem during our recitation. But the joy I felt is priceless and incomparable whenever I understand and solve problem correctly (it only happened a few times though, haha!). This month of August, The Mind Museum will take you to an experience of understanding Physics in more understandable and fun way as Mindburst presents "Let's get Physic-al, Physics for All". In this event you will learn the practical use and importance of understanding Physics in our everyday life.

How do Energizer and Nuffnang Power My Lifestyle?

Energizer and Nuffnang power my lifestyle through keeping my thoughts positively and believing that anything is possible when you work hard for it.”

I am a traveler. And I never thought that this childhood dream would one day turn into a reality. I was not born with a golden spoon in my mouth, so I almost trash that dream of traveling when I was growing. Instead, I focused more on the practical things to live, setting aside traveling which back then I already considered a luxury. I studied hard, got scholarships, graduated, and was able to get a good job. But another passion also keeps on whispering me, and that is writing. I was not able to take the course that I preferred which is journalism for the scholarship I got back then only required science-related courses only, thus I took engineering.

I was then introduced to blogging, which I find an alternative way of communication. Even if being an Engineer is my profession now, I can still continue my passion to write (part of being a journalist). Little did I know that blogging, would eventually turned my first dream into stark reality. I joined a writing contest sponsored by an airline company which prize includes a grand all-expense-paid trip. Out of more than a hundred finalists, I was lucky to be chosen as one of the winners, I am more than happy to find out that it was the judges choice also. And from the said trip, I met a lot of travelers, who eventually became my friends and travel buddies. Oh! before I forget, did you know that also because of blogging, somehow I can make money online to support some of my trips.

Let me tell you a short story of my first ever solo trip in Sagada. I didnt know what came into my mind that all of a sudden I packed my bag, reserve a bus ticket and when to Mountain Province. I left Manila at midnight, weather is perfectly fine. But when I arrived in Baguio, the strong rain suddenly fell. The bus going to Sagada was cancelled but there's one that already arrived. I took my chance, chased the bus through a cab and fortunately caught in La Trinidad. I was happy. But little did i know, there was a typhoon, landslides and rockfalls were occurring along the way. It was an epic but scary journey. I arrived safe. When I checked in, there was no electricity. Good thing I have my flashlight which lighted my room and it was also what I used during my caving journeys (spelunking). The battery I was using that time is Energizer. It was very reliable. I was able to use it for a couple of days.

See, a dream can be real if you will just believe and work hard for it. Every thing can be real if you will be optimistic and never let negative things ruin you. And also, everything will come on the right time. Great things come to those people who know how to wait.

Be energized! Be Positive!
